HH-60 helicopter crashes near Camp Hansen, Okinawa

A Kadena Air Base, Japan,-based HH-60G Pave Hawk†helicopter crashed in the Central Training Area near Camp Hansen, Okinawa, at about 4 p.m., Aug. 5. U.S. fire and rescue crews are responding to the scene of the mishap.

There were at least four people on board. Three of the four have been accounted for and are in stable condition. The remaining crew member has not yet been located.

At the time of the mishap, the helicopter was conducting a local training mission.

The cause of the incident will be investigated. More details will be released as they become available.
