Warbirds, vintage aircraft on display at Wings Wheels & Rotors 2013

 

 

Wings Wheels and Rotors 2013 is expected to be another great event with a large turnout and the usual spectacular activities and displays. This year WWRE is set for Oct. 27

WWRE 2013 is an annual open house and family event hosted by the  Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce and the California National Guard’s Joint Forces Training Base. All the activities will take place at the flightline on Los Alamitos Army Airfield.

On display will be military aircraft, helicopters, many cars, warbirds along with public safety, first responder and military equipment. Aircraft flyovers are planned including aircraft static displays and radio controlled airplanes.

Wings Wheels & Rotors will have various civilian and public safety helicopters with fire, police and military rotorcraft including some of the media aircraft seen daily On the air around Southern California.

Helicopter awareness will be supported by the Professional Helicopter Pilot Association. Along with the airplanes and warbirds are helicopter flights in civilian “choppers” for hire by Star helicopters. Also free flights in general aviation airplanes by the Experimental Aircraft Association, Young Eagles for youth between the ages of 8 and 17 years who are interested in flying and aviation.

The largest event will be a huge car show including custom cars, new autos, motorcycles, roadsters, antique vehicles and hot rods. Awards to be presented for best cars. There will be many events for the family at WWRE 2012 along with Kids Korner along with Pumpkins by Agromin. Additionally, there will be food, including breakfast, music, vendors, displays, demonstrations, flybys and other activities.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the JFTB Morale Welfare and Recreation funds to support the armed forces personnel on te base.

Sponsor and exhibitor opportunities, and vendor spaces are available.

Admission and parking are free, although donations are accepted.  Smoking, dogs, bikes or alcohol are not permitted on the flightline. Photo ID is required to enter the base.
