CMSgt. Brian Randolph, 412th Test Wing command chief; MSgt. Eric Jackson; Civ-Mil President Danny Bazzell; A1C Quentin Powell; and TSgt. Brody Anderson pose with gifts donated by Civ-Mil to help make life a little more enjoyable for young airmen. Anderson was also recognized by dignitaries for his outstanding work in restoring Flag Park at Edwards Flight Test Center.

Brig. Gen. Michael Brewer, commander of the 412 Test Wing, swore in Civ-Mil officers and directors at the 24th installation banquet Sept. 26 at Club Muroc, and accolades were given to TSgt. Brody Anderson for his dedication and hard work in refurbishing the Flag Park to its original beauty.

Anderson accepted awards from representatives of Congressman Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and other dignitaries.

I dont mind giving or helping our local community when I see them giving so much to the military; not every base Ive been to has such a good supporting system, said Anderson after the event. He said he was more motivated to be involved because of the huge effort Civ-Mil puts in towards young airman.

Founded by Aida OConnor 24 years ago, Civ-Mil supports military personal in practical means. Recently Civ-Mil President Danny Bazzell asked the Airman Council what they could use to make life a little better at Edwards. Due to popular request, billiard supplies and a Keurig coffee machine were purchased for game rooms and Higher Grounds, an environment where airmen can enjoy using the internet, play video games and visit in a nonalcoholic environment.

The Unsung Hero award went to Pan Pantel, Member of the Year was given to George Nagy and special recognition was given to Art Fertellio.

Threated budget cuts didnt keep master of ceremonies Army veteran Dennis Anderson and key note speaker Brewer from sharing a few stories and laughs with guests.

We have been here before and we will get through this, again, said Brewer sharing stories of how it took him three times of testing before he became a test pilot. Perseverance and stick-to-it-ness has helped him with challenges in life. We wrote the rules 20 years ago and we can change them if we need to. We will keep moving forward.

Bazzell humorously passed the gavel to himself since he will also be next years president. Incoming officers: Vice President, John Fergione; Secretary, Julie Swayze and Treasurer, Dr. George Bud Reams. Incoming directors: Danny Bazzell, Roger Hemme, Mike Belzil, Aida OConnor, Reams, Art Furtado and Pan Patel.
