Scaled Composites’ Mark Stucky earns 2013 Iven C. Kincheloe award from Society of Experimental Test Pilots

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. - Northrop Grumman Nov. 1 announced Scaled Composites Test Pilot Mark “Forger” Stucky has earned the Society of Experimental Test Pilots’ Iven C. Kincheloe Award for outstanding professional accomplishment in the conduct of flight testing.

SETP presented the award to Stucky Sept. 28. The award, established in 1958, honors the memory of test pilot and U.S. Air Force Korean War ace Iven C. Kincheloe, who died during flight testing. Stucky serves as an engineering test pilot for SpaceShip Two and its carrier aircraft WhiteKnight Two.

“Beyond his primary position as a test pilot, Forger has been an instrumental and critical part of our programs, working as a design engineer, instructor pilot, project pilot, technical adviser and even a mentor to others,” said Kevin Mickey, president, Scaled Composites. “His dedication to the advancement of flight testing and the enthusiastic pursuit of discovery personify the spirit of Scaled Composites, and illustrate the vital role Scaled plays in the Northrop Grumman portfolio.”

Northrop Grumman acquired Scaled Composites in 2007. Scaled Composites operates as a separate company supporting Northrop Grumman and other customers with expertise in rapid design, innovation and prototyping.\
