General Dynamics C4 Systems receives 2013 Nunn-Perry Mentor-Protege Award

General Dynamics C4 Systems has received the 2013 Nunn-Perry Award from the U.S. Department of Defense, Office of Small Business programs in recognition of its commitment and performance as a mentor to nFocus Solutions, a woman-owned small business headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz.

The Nunn-Perry award recognizes superior performance in the areas of quality, technical assistance, return on investment and protege development.

General Dynamics C4 Systems and nFocus Solutions began the mentor-protege partnership in 2006 continuing through 2012. Highlighting a success of the General Dynamics/nFocus mentor-protege program, nFocus Solutions is now a major subcontractor on U.S. Army’s Digital Training Management System, which provides the detailed training status of more than two million soldiers and civilians worldwide. nFocus Solutions, founded in 1994 specializes in performance management and outcome measurement solutions.

“Mentoring small businesses like nFocus ensures the DoD has access to a strong group of small business suppliers that may not have had the resources or expertise to effectively compete for government contracts,” said Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics C4 Systems. “During our mentor-protege partnership we gained valuable insights from each other and developed new products and capabilities that will help the military be more efficient, effective and safe.”

“Through this partnership, nFocus has realized its long-term goal of becoming a viable DoD prime and subcontractor while General Dynamics leveraged nFocus’ performance measurement technology in a number of successful proposals,” said Ananda Roberts, president of nFocus Solutions. “This award reflects both companies’ commitment to provide effective technology solutions to the nation’s military.”

General Dynamics C4 Systems was notified of the Nunn-Perry mentor-protege award in a letter from Paul Simpkins, associate director, Office of Small Business Programs. The award is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense, Office of Small Business Programs, a directorate within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics.
