Army Emergency Relief Campaign update

Have any of us ever needed a helping hand when we receive a large bill to repair our vehicle, or when we overextend ourselves and our shortage ended up being for food or basic essentials?  Have we ever had to deal with overdue payments because we might have done something with our money that was not in our best interest?  Army Emergency Relief was invented to help Soldiers and family members in time of financial need.  We have all been in situations that have made us stress over money or the well being of our family.  That is a purpose for the existence of the AER Office”¦to help Army families so the Soldier can focus on the mission and not on money.

AER Form 700 is the preferred form to use when requesting an AER loan.  With few exceptions, this document must be filled out by the Soldier and provided to the commander or first sergeant for review.  The commander or first sergeant might require the Soldier to visit with a Command Financial NCO to develop a budget.   Any of these professionals will assist our Soldiers in this endeavor.   AER requires a copy of the invoice, the AER Form 700 (whether approved or disapproved), and a Leave and Earnings Statement.  The AER office is located in Bldg 561 (corner of G and 3d Streets).   We only take walk-ins, not appointments.  We can serve you better this way.

How is our Fort Irwin AER Campaign for donations going?  Now that the rotation is slowing down, we need to concentrate on the Army Emergency Relief campaign throughout the Installation.  We are currently at $15,000 in donations, but have until May 15.  Do we have questions about the AER Program or on how to donate?  Call Bob Lucas at 380-3513 for more information.  Take care and thank you for serving.
