There is less than one month left until the Fort Irwin 2012 AER campaign ends on May 15, but there is still time to donate after the end of the campaign. AER is always accepting donations, which are used to directly support our Soldiers and their families. There are currently 743 Soldiers who have donated to the AER campaign, for a total $42,681. For those who have donated, we thank you. That number of donators, however, accounts for only 12 percent of the active duty population at Fort Irwin. The Fort Irwin AER office encourages Soldiers to donate. Donating to the AER Program is a voluntary choice, but it is the only program that directly assists Soldiers and family members who are in dire financial need, and the loans made to them are interest-free. This program is a tool for commanders and first sergeants when assisting our Soldiers and their families. In the month of March, Soldiers required assistance on vehicle repairs, emergency travel, rent, and food. These are real needs for those who are in great need. Many times an AER loan or grant lead to the Soldier’s peace of mind. Above all, AER continues to help our Soldiers better focus on the Army mission. For more information, call Bob Lucas, Fort Irwin AER officer, at 380-3513, or visit www.aerhq.org. To donate, contact the AER Key Worker within your organization.
