Pirate party
The Fort Irwin Arts and Crafts Center will host its annual pirate party beginning at noon on Saturday. Kids can make crafts and participate in pirate-themed activities. Cost is $15 per “pirate.â€Â For more information or to sign up, call 380-3431 or visit the arts and crafts center in Bldg. 976 on Inner Loop Road.
Children’s Earth Day celebrationÂ
There will be an Earth Day celebration in conjunction with Month of the Military Child at Happy Hearts Child Development Center, Bldg. 1317, from 8:30-9:15 a.m. and from 3:30-5:15 p.m. Monday. There will be planting, crafts, and food. All are welcome. For more information, call 380-1273.
Month of the Military Child fair and Olympics
The Fort Irwin Month of the Military Child fair and Olympics will take place April 28 at Jackrabbit Park and Coyote Activity Center. The Olympics will start with a torch run at 10:30 a.m. and the fair will begin at 11 a.m. Activities will include speed skating, bean bag toss, hula hoops, potato sack race, toddler basketball toss, and more. Children can also compete in the Presidential Fitness Challenge. For more information, call 380-4695 or visit www.fortirwinfmwr.com.
AUSA relay run
The Association of the United State Army’s annual relay race from Fort Irwin to the California Veterans Home-Barstow will take place beginning at 6 a.m. May 5. Sign-up deadline is April 27. Race length is 40 miles. Each team can have a maximum of 20 members, with each person running a minimum of two miles. Cost per person is $25 and includes lunch at the veterans home. To register or for more information, call 760-267-8702.
