Volunteer Spotlight: Amanda Davis

Where do you volunteer?

I am a volunteer for AWANAs on Wednesday nights at the chapel for the Cubbies class, with PWOC, a ladies’ Bible study group at the chapel, the Sidewinder Team Family Readiness Group and at Lewis Elementary School.

What do you get out of volunteering?

I enjoy being involved in things my kids do, so we can be together more often. I also enjoy helping others. This is also a great way for me to see my stress is not so unique and there are many people out there who need a hand a lot more than I do.

How did you get started as a volunteer?

I started little by little. The army has so many various people from different walks of life and it is wonderful to meet different men and women who have been through so many things. I try to keep my ears open for anything that needed done and to always pitch in where I can.

What advice would you give someone about volunteering?

Start where you are. Start now. Think about all the places on post you go or where you are being served.
