VVTA NTC commuter bus service to begin Monday

The new NTC Commuter bus service, operated by the Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA), with service from Victorville and Barstow to Fort Irwin will start on 14 May 2012.  The Schedule and pricing information is attached.  NTC shuttle buses will continue providing transportation for Commuter passengers on established routes, no changes. The shuttle will be synchronized with the NTC Commuter bus schedule.

Additional information can also be viewed on the VVTA website: www.vvta.org/ntccommuter.html or the Fort Irwin website:   www.irwin.army.mil/Armycivilians/Pages/MassTransportation.aspx

For the last two weeks of May, VVTA will offer an introductory fare price!

During this special introductory fare price period, contractors and all non Mass Transportation Benefit Program (MTBP) recipients will pay $5.00 for a round trip or a one way. They will pay (with exact change and in cash only) in the morning when boarding the bus and receive a paper pass from VVTA that they can deposit that pass into the fare box in the afternoon for their return trip.  Those who ride only in the afternoon will need to pay the $5.00 for the one way ride.  This means you must have exact cash with you each day to ride the bus for May.

Beginning in June 2012 the regular fares will be $200.00 dollars for a monthly pass from Victorville and $150.00 from Barstow.  These passes will include a 31 day pass for use on all VVTA routes including the County Routes to and from Silver Lakes, Phelan, Oro Grand, and Lucerne Valley.

Also beginning in June, students (6 to 13 no ID required; 14 and over with valid school photo ID), elderly (60 and over) and disabled (either Medicare Card or a Disabled card issued by VVTA and photo ID *) will be priced at 50% off or $100.00 from Victorville, and $75.00 from Barstow.  Children 5 and under will ride free.  Up to three children 5 and under for each paying adult.

When the regular fares start in June, VVTA will not offer punch tickets but there will be a $10.00 each way fare from Victorville and $8.00 from Barstow. Students, Elderly (60 and over) and Disabled will pay $5.00 Victorville and $4.00 Barstow each way. This means you must have exact cash with you each day if you wish to purchase daily rides.

Ticket sales for June will be held on 23, 25 & 30 May in Bldg 565 on 3rd and Ave. G. (DOL Transportation) from the hours of 1100-1400 hours.  Non-MTBP recipients must go to this location at those dates/times to purchase their June bus bass.  Only cash or money orders for the exact ticket price will be accepted.  Money orders should be made out to Victor Valley Transit Authority.  MTBP recipients will first go to Bldg 988, Room 110B to sign for their MTBP voucher and will receive a receipt that can be used towards the purchase of their June bus pass.  (A separate email will be sent to all MTBP recipients outlining the procedures).

To obtain a VVTA Photo Disabled ID card, passenger must bring in to VVTA one of the following: the most current SSI awards letter; a formal letter from their Dr., Dept. of Behavioral Health, Dept. of Rehab.; VA letter of Disability; or DMV Disability Report.
