Sandy Basin Pool now open

The Sandy Basin swimming pool is open for the summer.  The community is reminded that this is a community pool and no lifeguard is on duty.  Parents must monitor and maintain the safety of their children.  Please be respectful of all using the pool.  The pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, from noon to 7 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

 

Torrance Armed Forces Day

The city of Torrance, Calif., in Orange County, will hold its 53rd annual Armed Forces Day Celebration this weekend.  Events will kick off with military static displays beginning at 10 a.m. Friday in the Del Amo Fashion Center, and the Air Force Band will perform concerts at 1:30 and 7 p.m.  On Saturday, a parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Crenshaw and Torrance boulevards.  Military static displays will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Del Amo Fashion Center on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.  Fort Irwin Soldiers and leaders have participated in this event for many years.  For more information, visit www.torranceca.gov.
