Home run derbyÂ
Come participate in home run derby today from 4-8 p.m. at the Fourplex field across from Coyote Activity Center.Â Each batter will have 15 pitches to hit as many home runs as possible.Â Each participant will receive a STRONG B.A.N.D.S. wristband to show support of National Sports and Fitness Month.Â Cost is $5 per person and all are welcome to participate.Â For more information, call 380-3685.
Asian-American/Pacific Islander heritage celebration
There will be a celebration in honor of Asian-American Pacific Island heritage month Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jackrabbit Park.Â There will be music and dancing from Fort Irwinâ€™s Samoa Mo Samoa group, a Chinese dragon performance, traditional dress display, cultural information, a Hawaiian Luau, and Japanese drums.Â Bounce houses will be available for children and food.Â All are welcome at this free celebration.Â In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be held at Reggieâ€™s.Â For more information, call 380-4963.
New hospital groundbreaking
There will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Weed Army Community Hospital at 3 p.m. Wednesday.Â All are welcome. Â Parking will be available at the National Training Center and 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment museum, with a shuttle to take observers to the groundbreaking location beginning at 2 p.m.
