Army birthday celebration

Happy birthday to the U.S. Army!  Today marks 237 years since the establishment of the Continental Army.  Come celebrate at one of the events taking place today.  From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dining Facility #1 and #2 will host a special Army Birthday lunch menu featuring kabobs, burgers, sides, and red, white and blue deserts.  Cake cutting and recognition of the oldest and youngest Soldiers will take place at 11:45 a.m. at DFAC #1.  Cost is $7.50 for E-5 and above, $6.40 for E-4 and below, and $7.50 for all others. At 7 p.m. tonight, the High Desert Mavericks minor league baseball team will take on the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at Maverick Stadium in Adelanto, Calif. All military ID card holders will receive $4 tickets and the first pitch will be thrown out by a Soldier.  Soldiers can also participate in special promotions between innings.  Static displays of military equipment and vehicles will be available for viewing at the NTC and 11th ACR Museum from 12:30-3 p.m. For more information, call 380-4511.

Reggie’s closes

Reggie’s Beverage Company will close indefinitely beginning June 18 for an extensive brand overhaul.  The new brand will provide a casual dining atmosphere with great menu items and impeccable service.  It will replace Reggie’s, which opened on Fort Irwin in the late 90s.  The new service will be more than just a place to eat, it will be a destination to enjoy a tastefully simple menu of grilled American fare paired with your favorite full-flavored crafted brews.  The project’s completion is estimated to take four months, a relatively short time, while making a continuous effort toward an “installation of choice.”  For updates on the project, visit the National Training Center/Fort Irwin Facebook page, or the Fort Irwin FMWR Facebook page.
