Brig. Gen. Terry R. Ferrell, commanding general of the National Training Center and Fort Irwin, passes the regimental colors to Col. John L. Ward, incoming commander of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at a mass change of command and change of responsibility ceremony at Fritz Field on Fort Irwin, Calif., June 26. The ceremony also featured the change of commands for the 1st Squadron, 11th ACR, 2nd Squadron, 11th ACR, a change of responsibility for 1st Squadron, 11th ACR, and the assumption of responsibility for Regimental Support Squadron, 11th ACR.
Troopers from Horse Detachment, Regimental Support Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, perform the “Last Cavalry Charge†at a mass change of command and change of responsibility ceremony at Fritz Field on Fort Irwin June 26. The re-enactment honored the 11th Cavalry Troopers that performed the last mounted charge in U.S. Cavalry history on May 5, 1916.
