Ralph Litscher, spouse of outgoing 916th Support Brigade commander Col. Sherrie Bosley, with a bouquet of red roses during a relinquishment of command ceremony, June 27.

Colonel Sherrie L. Bosley relinquished command of the 916th Support Brigade during a ceremony at the main helipad on Fort Irwin, June 27. The 916th will be commanded on an interim basis by the unit’s executive officer, Lt. Col. Milton G. Kelly. The brigade will receive Col. James Kazmierczak later this month.

The ceremony also saw the relinquishment of command by Lt. Col. Peter Kalamaras, Jr., who commanded the 1916th Support Battalion, which is under the 916th. The 1916th is now commanded by Lt. Col. Richard Hubbard. The support battalion also received Command Sgt. Maj. Nicol Williams as its top noncommissioned officer.

The 916th Support Brigade replicates a deployed theater of operations planning and executing Theater Sustainment Command through Sustainment Brigade levels of support for rotational units that train at the National Training Center. The 916th conducts theater opening, reception, staging and onward movement of forces, distribution, sustainment, reconstitution, and redeployment. It also provides mission command for rotational echelons-above-brigade sustainment units. It plans and executes rotary wing aviation operations providing the NTC headquarters and NTC units with general support air movements, dignitary transports, and air medical evacuations. The aviation mission also includes portraying tactical aviation recon, attack, assault and lift in support of training. The brigade provides trained and ready forces for worldwide contingency operations, and furthers its commitment in enhancing the quality of life for Soldiers, Families, and civilians.

Lt. Col. Peter Kalamaras, outgoing commander of the 1916th Support Battalion, hands the battalion’s colors to Col. Sherrie Bosley, outgoing commander of the 916th Support Brigade, during a ceremony, June 27.
