Fun in the Sun at the “Red, White and BOOM Bash!”

Dex Espinoza, lead singer for “Straight Shooter,” rocks out during his band’s performance at the Fort Irwin July 4th shindig. Straight Shooter is a “Bad Company” tribute band from Los Angeles.

Gunnar St. Pierre, 8, climbs as his father, Sgt. 1st Class Ben St. Pierre, helps out. They were attending the family-themed celebration of our country’s birthday at Fort Irwin and the National Training Center. Dad is a helicopter mechanic with B Company, 2916th Battalion, 916th Support Brigade.

Marvin Corbin, a truck driver with Supply and Transportation Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Specialist Jerry Gayton, a combat engineer with the 58th Combat Engineer Company, shows-off his prize: a coffee maker. He had just won an opportunity drawing at the “Red, White and Boom Bash” at Fort Irwin, July 4.

“Love and patriotism – a great combination.” Staff Sgt. Joseph Hawn and wife, Cindy, enjoyed attending the July 4th celebration put on by Fort Irwin for its community. Hawn is a mechanic with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. The couple will be retiring later this year from the military, after Hawn’s 22-years-of-service.
