Celebrating Unity during Ramadan

The Fort Irwin EO/EEO Offices along with 51st Tactical Interpreter Company with Regimental Support Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, invites the community to attend the “Celebration of Unity during Ramadan” at the Sandy Basin Community Center on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The ceremony will commemorate contributions to the United States by people of the Muslim culture. It will highlight the struggles and triumphs of many Muslim American citizens and recognize their contributions to American society and the world. The event fosters awareness and develops cultural sensitivity for differences between the traditions and customs of people from Muslim nations. The celebration is aligned with the start of Ramadan, the fasting month. One of five pillars of Islam, Ramadan falls on the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and begins on July 20. There will be music, food samplings provided by an authentic Middle Eastern caterer, and traditional deserts provided by 51st TICO family members.
