School starts Aug. 9

Silver Valley Unified School District will start the 2012-2013 school year Thursday, Aug. 9. Following is a list of back-to-school events:

Aug. 7

Registration at General Colin L. Powell Preschool

 

Aug. 8

Lewis Elementary School 2-3 p.m. Meet and Greet & Class assignments are posted

 

Fort Irwin Middle School

Visit campus anytime before school starts for a tour

Aug. 9 7:50 a.m. Alphabetized grade level posters with homeroom assignment

 

Tiefort View Intermediate School

  • Aug. 1-3 Can visit the school anytime
  • Aug. 6 Monday Parent tour at 6 p.m.

Parent information/Welcome letter mailed home

 

Silver Valley High School

Aug. 8 2-3 p.m. Schedules available for pick up and tour campus

 

Road closure

Barstow Road, near TVIS, from Normandy Drive to Inner Loop Road will be closed from Aug. 6-8 to restripe crosswalks and replace signs. The side roads connecting to Barstow (Rhineland, Anzio Street, Antietam Street, Shiloh Street, Salerno Drive) are included in the road closures. Traffic will be able to re-route using Rhineland Drive. Please observe speed limits along Rhineland. This will occur starting Monday at 7 a.m. through Wednesday at 3 p.m.
