Do It Yourself and Save

Doug Fisher changes a thermostat at the Fort Irwin Auto Craft Shop.

Auto repairs can be expensive. Brake maintenance, oil changes and tune-ups are all important, but the cost can add up fast. One way to save a little cash is to do it yourself, and a great place to work on the car is the Fort Irwin Auto Craft Shop. The eight-bay shop is equipped with just about anything you would need to fix or maintain your vehicle. The lifts can be used to facilitate changing the oil to installing a new exhaust. The staff of the shop is available to give advice and help you to do the job right. The shop is open: Monday through Friday, from 4 to 9 p.m.; Comp Thursdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and; Saturday, Sunday and some holidays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information call the Auto Craft Shop at 380-3531.

Vito Chanwont assits Rod Shint with changing the water pump on his Iszuz. Shint estimated he would save well over $100 doing the work himself.
