The Legal Assistance Office at the National Training Center and Fort Irwin was recognized for excellence in a ceremony, here, Oct 23.
National Training Center and Fort Irwin Commander, Brig. Gen. Terry Ferrell, presented the Army Chief of Staff Award for Excellence in Legal Assistance to members of the legal assistance staff.
The Army Chief of Staff Award for Excellence in Legal Assistance is only presented to those offices exhibiting the highest standards in legal assistance. Across the entire Army, both active and Reserve, only around 10 legal assistance offices received this award, according to Ferrell.
In 2011, the Fort Irwin Legal Assistance Office saw approximately 2,000 clients, saving Soldiers and Family members almost $400,000 in civilian legal fees. That’s a tremendous contribution to Soldier and Family member quality of life, Ferrell said.
Legal Assistance provides help with wills, powers of attorney, landlord/tenant issues, marriage settlement agreements, and a whole host of other issues.
The support ensures that Soldiers and Families receive what they deserve: the absolute best legal assistance possible, said Ferrell.
