Fort Irwin Angel Tree Program 2012

For several years , the Angel Tree Program has provided Christmas assistance to Fort Irwin Families during the Holidays. Through the Angel Tree Program, generous donors have made a child’s holiday more special.

Once a child has been registered as an “Angel,” the donor who selects the Angel from the tree makes a promise that they will provide Christmas for that individual. The promise can include a variety of gifts for each child. In order to accomplish this, the Angel Tree program depends on the generosity of individual donors and organizations.

How can Soldiers or their Spouses register their children to be “Angels”?

Families in need can apply for assistance through their Company or Troop. The Solider or Spouse must obtain a copy of the application for assistance from their first or commander. This program serves children ranging in age from infant through 12 years old. Parents will be asked to provide information regarding the child’s age, gender, clothing size and suggestion for a toy. The first sergeant or commander will then authenticate the form with their signature and telephone number. All forms will be turned in to the Army Community Service at building 561. This method will maintain the confidentiality of all program recipients.

Applications must be received by at ACS by close of business on Nov. 20.

Once Angels have been registered, Angel “tags” or ornaments are created and placed on Angel Trees in various locations for members of the community or organizations to select.

When and Where Will the Angel Trees Be Located?

Beginning Nov. 21, Angel Trees will be located at the Commissary, the Exchange and Center Chapel. Any Family member, Soldier, DA civilian or contractor wishing to donate gifts can select one or several ornaments from the trees.

Once an Angel is selected by a donor, the donor will purchase new items and bring the unwrapped items and Angel Tag back to ACS, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. All gifts must be dropped off no later than Dec. 14.

When will the angel tree toys be given out?

In order to protect the anonymity of the recipients , we are asking that Company and Troop first sergeants come to the Forum, building 1200, Dec. 17-19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and collect the presorted bags/boxes containing the gifts for the Families in their units.
