Safety Tip of the Week

The Winter Safety Campaign Web page has been updated with some really great safe practices on towing a trailer. Go to http://goo.gl/q63EM. Many Soldiers and Families tow their travel trailers and toys to their holiday destination of choice, but there’re safety checks that should be considered before heading out on the road. If your travel plans include towing a trailer make sure your following the manufactures directions and safety manuals. You want to personally inspect the trailer and hitch safety chains for proper connections. Check electrical hookups and ensure that the vehicle and trailer lights operate. Unfortunately, many serious accidents occur when towing trailers because the driver neglects to compensate for the changes in handling characteristics of the vehicle.
