The 2012 Winterfest event at the Fort Irwin Town Center was attended by Soldiers and their Families, Dec. 15. The day’s festivities began with breakfast with Santa at the Samuel Adams Grille. Families then enjoyed a photo opportunity with Santa. The Holiday Market and Craft Fair took place all day at the Event and Catering Center. Community members were treated to an artistic display by 3-D artist Tracy Lee Stum. Children with the SKIES Unlimited program performed ballet, dance and karate on stage. The 11 Armored Cavalry Regiment Horse Detachment brought out a horse and wagon for photos and the Exchange provided vendors and food trucks. Singer Matt Shockley sang and played his guitar. Rick Creed, who is a Gold Star father, led the tree lighting with special music and a light show. The evening rounded out with holiday movies shown on an inflatable jumbotron.
