For some Fort Irwin children the colors of Christmas included blue – Dodger Blue that is.

The group of children that made a school trip, Dec. 12, to the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium came from Tiefort View Intermediate School. Their visit with Dodger players of past and present, included photo opportunities, gifts, and story time.

The 25 students, from grades third through fifth, got to meet: retired manager Tommy Lasorda; retired players Tommy Davis (number 12), Fernando Valenzuela (34), Ken Landreaux (44), Steve Yeager (7), Dennis Powell (48), Paul LoDuca (16), and; current players Adrian Gonzalez (23) and Luis Cruz (47).

Fort Irwin’s kids were part of an annual Children’s Holiday Party hosted by the Dodgers and the Dodgers Dream Foundation for 300 children. The club has been holding the event for more than 30 years. The Dodgers Dream Foundation donated a set of books to each of the 11 schools and organizations that attended the event.
