Fort Irwin Middle School basketball teams for girls and boys have done it again. They both took first place in the High Desert Athletic League for the 2012-2013 season. The girl’s team has won the championship three years in a row and the boys have taken the trophy the last four years.

The lady Wildcats finished the season undefeated at 11-0 and took top honors after an impressive win over Riverview Middle School in the championship game, March 4.

The boys have also been a dominant squad in the High Desert. They have not lost a regular season game since 2009 and they won their championship game with a score of 46-10 over Bradach Middle School, March 6.

Congratulations Wildcats!

I was wondering, that with the talent that we have here on base, between 10-14 years of age, when it comes to basketball……has anyone ever tried to start a traveling team for after the middle school season ends? I ask this because, I just read in the post paper that the boys team just won it’s 4th title in a row, and has not lost a game since 2009. And the girls team just won it’s 3rd in a row, with this year’s title run being an undefeated one. I would like to see these kids be given a chance to represent our community through basketball all year around. I meet all the qualifcations to coach and manage a program like this. I have built club/AAU teams at every base I have been to except here, and I have been stationed here twice. Please get back to me on this. Thank you.
