2nd-place
McKinley Viers took second place in Major League Baseball’s “Pitch, Hit & Run Team Competition” at Anaheim Angels Stadium, June 1. McKinley, who turned 8 just before the competition, was one of three girls in the 7 and 8-year-old girls division.

To get to Anaheim stadium, McKinley qualified by winning in her local competition sponsored by Youth Sports and Fitness at Fort Irwin. “She’s a very talented athlete, who works hard and applies herself to whatever she does,” said Yalonda Baker, YSF Assistant Director. “Youth Sports and Fitness staff is so proud of her and her accomplishment.” When McKinley was asked if she enjoyed the competition at Angels Stadium she responded, “Yeah! It was fun getting to meet the other kids and play on the Angel’s field, but what I really liked was going to the game that night!”
