Fort Irwin celebrated our country’s independence with music, games, food and fireworks at the annual “Red, White and Boom” event at Army Field on this High Desert military installation, July 4. The community came out to spend a warm, clear evening with their children as they mingled amongst neighbors and leadership. Attendees were treated to musical performances by Matt Shockley, “Against the Grain” and “White Buffalo.”

Food, beverages, water splash activities and carnival games were the norm. The evening was topped off with a booming fireworks display. Comments on the NTC/Fort Irwin and FMWR Facebook pages included:

“Fantastic fireworks display!!!! Thank you.”

“The fireworks were amazing this year!”

“Thank you FMWR and USAA for the free entertainment and awesome fireworks display!”

“Thank you FMWR and all those that helped put on such a great event. It was by far one of the best firework shows I’ve seen. A lot for the kids to do. Entertainment was great and the food vendors.”
