Congratulations graduates!

Associate of Dean of Park University’s School of Business Dr. Penelope DeJong places a graduation hood on Master Sgt. Andrea Johnson, chief paralegal with Staff Judge Advocate here, during a graduation ceremony, May 22. Johnson received her master’s degree in business administration.

 
The Fort Irwin Education Center hosted its 17th Annual Consolidated Graduation ceremony, May 22. Students from 15 colleges received either certificates or degrees in the associates, bachelors and masters levels. The commencement address was provided by National Training Center and Fort Irwin commander Maj. Gen. Ted Martin. He described the day as special for the graduates, their families and the faculty making the event possible. Martin (who has three master’s degrees) said that the student’s graduation is an example of what can be accomplished through hard work, long hours, a bit of luck and – most importantly – the support of family and friends.

Master Sgt. Andrea Johnson, chief paralegal with Staff Judge Advocate here, received her master’s degree in business administration. She said pursuing a degree while in the military is very challenging. “It is especially challenging with kids and deployments,” Johnson said. “I set a goal for myself when I was a young Soldier to continue my education and get my degree prior to getting out of the military. I would highly encourage all Soldiers and Family members that are not in college to start now. Take advantage of all that Fort Irwin has to offer such as Desert University and online colleges.”
