This year’s Army Birthday theme is “America’s Army: Our Profession.”

Col. Jon Braga
Commander U.S. Army Garrison Fort Irwin

As we celebrate the Army’s 239th birthday this June 14, I would like us all to take a moment to reflect on what it means to be a part of this long tradition of service to our nation. This year’s theme is “America’s Army: Our Profession.”

We serve our country as a total force- Active, Guard, Reserves, Civilians and Families- we all share the same professional ethic. We are a team and it takes a strong team of professionals to accomplish all we do here at the National Training Center.

We carry out a huge mission here every day preparing the greater team to defend our nation and everyone who lives here supports that effort in some way. Everyone who comes here from miles around this great desert to work supports America’s Army.

We are all committed to a greater cause above and beyond ourselves. Each of us brings something special to this very extraordinary place and to this incredible mission and I would ask that you reflect on that as we celebrate the 239th birthday of the United States Army.
