Fort Irwin Soldiers mingled with Hollywood stars during the 2014 Spike TV’s Guys Choice awards ceremony, June 7. Fort Irwin United States Army Garrison Commander Col. Jon Braga went on stage to present actor Mark Wahlberg with the Troops Choice award. Wahlberg then presented Navy SEAL Veteran Marcus Luttrell with a same award. Wahlberg portrayed Luttrell in the movie “Lone Survivor,” which recounts his combat experiences in Afghanistan. Luttrell received the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions in June 2005 facing Taliban fighters.

According to Spike TV’s Web site, the ceremony is not a typical awards show. Rather, it is a hilarious, unpretentious, heartfelt event where comedy is king and the world’s greatest stars (past and present) align to toast the mega-splendor of all things GUY. Some of the stars appearing included: Sandra Bullock, Andy Samberg, Cameron Diaz, Kevin Hart, Johnny Knoxville, Jessica Alba and Norman Reedus.
