Run for the Fallen, 7 a.m., Painted Rocks

Run for the Fallen is a national event honoring every service member who has died during the War on Terror while on active duty or as a result of active duty. The route covers 6,000 miles across 19 states on its way to Arlington National Cemetery, but it begins at Fort Irwin’s Painted Rocks. Attend the start of the run and join NTC leadership and community organizations as they complete the first few miles of the route. Contact 760-380-4511.

Participants are challenged to come up with a way of protecting an egg from a drop of a designated height (no motorized components or pre-purchased parachutes). All participants will get 1 hour to create their egg armor and 1 practice egg drop. Participants/teams can enter into one of three categories: least egg armor, lightest egg armor, and most creative egg armor. This is an educational STEAM themed activity for Teens only. This class is designed for those interested in, or who are currently holding, the FRG Leader’s position. Course includes an overview of AR 608-1 Appendix J, Getting Started, Expectation and Role of FRG Volunteers, Partnership with the unit, Being an effective FRG Leader, and Empowering Leadership. Explore the Calico Mountains area in off-highway vehicles! From scenic views to exploring abandoned silver and gold mines, there is something for everyone. This is an all-day trip. The National Training Center pays tribute to all children during the Month of the Military Child (MOMC) with a community-wide event. This class involves the essentials in setting up a calling tree. The course includes an overview of the FRG, the role of key callers, working with the Family Support network and crisis intervention.
