Leaders from the 2916th Aviation Battalion hiked to the top of Fort Irwin’s Tiefort Mountain in March as part of a Leadership Professional Development event. The mountain is the highest point at the National Training Center, reaching more than 5,000 feet in elevation.

With no rotational training unit scheduled for March, units at the National Training Center took advantage of the opportunity to complete their own training exercises.

The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, which serves as the NTC’s world class opposing force during rotations, conducted live fire training in preparation for the Army’s Sullivan Cup Best Tank Crew Competition. The competition will take place at Fort Benning, Georgia between April 30 and May 4.

Units within the 916th Support Brigade, which provide mission command for sustainment and select aviation support operations during rotation, also took to the field last month. The 1916th Battalion performed a live fire training exercise, and the 2916th Aviation Battalion conducted a field training exercise. –C. Kozacek
