Federal Job Search & Federal Resume Class (“Ten Steps to Federal Employment”): Oct. 16 and Nov. 10, 10-11:30 a.m. This class will help customers understand how to navigate USAJobs.gov and to utilize the search engine features. It will assist customers to create an account and understand how the Federal application system works.

SBP/Casualty Assistance Office: The SBP and Casualty Assistance Office are now combined. Every retiring member married or single must make a valid election prior to retiring. Spouse Employment/Volunteer Resources: The link to job search strategies and volunteer opportunities is through the Airman & Family Readiness Center. Unlicensed Child Care: Air Force Instruction 34-276, Family Child Care Programs, requires individuals in family housing (military or privatized) who provide child care in their home for more than 10 child care hours per week to be a licensed provider. A child care hour is the number of hours times the number of children in care. If unlicensed does not stop, the Base Commander can revoke your privilege of living in base housing. If you need FCC services ensure the provider is licensed. Each approved home, will have a license hanging in the home and a sign on the outside of the home.
Family Child Care is seeking dedicated people who love working with children: If you live on-base and want to care for children in your home or you are a military dependent and live off-base, you may be eligible to be a licensed or affiliated provider! Make a positive difference in the lives of children! Most materials and training are provided free of charge!
Moms, Pops, & Tots: Meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month. Extended Duty Care: The Air Force offers the Extended Duty Care Program to assist parents who need additional child care beyond their normal arrangements due to mission related requirements. The Benefits of Being a Family Child Care Provider: Being to work out of your home, working while caring for your own children, being in charge of your own business, doing work that you love, setting your own hours and free training! Lunchtime Disc Golf at Mojave Greens: Wednesdays, noon, Mojave Greens Disc Golf Course, Hole 1. Join us for a round of lunchtime golf. Players of all skill levels are invited to attend. Experienced golfers will be on hand to offer advice and work with beginners. Equipment will be available for loan. Take this opportunity to meet other disc golfers on base and challenge each other on the course!
Equipment Orientation Classes: Tuesday, 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, 4-5 p.m., and Thursday, 7-8 p.m. Not sure how to use equipment or what it does for you? Stop by the front desk and sign up for this one-hour class. We are here to help you get the most out of your fitness routine.

YES (Youth Employment Skills): The YES Program will begin in the 2015-2016 school year and helps teens earn money for college. The program is open to teens whose parent is active duty Air Force. Teens can earn up to a $1,000 towards their post high school education. Contact the Teen Center for more information.
Keystone Club: Every Wednesday, 2:15 p.m., at the Teen Center. The Keystone Club is a leadership club that performs community service projects around the base. The club also helps teens to maintain focus in high school and graduate and prepare for college.
Teen Council: A Teen Council is being formed to give a voice for teens within the community. The Teen Center is looking for teens associated with other teen youth groups i.e. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Chapel Youth Groups, NHS, ASB, Home Schooled, and any other teen youth groups. Representatives will meet once a month and discuss teen issues on base. If interested, contact Anthony Quinnert at Desert High School or Mr. Paul at the Teen Center.
Teen Center Membership: Parents–memberships at the Teen Center are available year round. Cost is $360 for an annual membership. One of the worst times for a teen to make a bad decision is between the hours of 3 pm and 6 p.m. For a dollar a day you can have peace of mind knowing that your son or daughter is in a safe, fun and developmental environment with a caring staff that will make sure your son or daughter feels right at home and have a great experience.

The Air Force Youth Centers offer sponsorship for kids & teens so that every move is a seamless transition. Super Sitters Course: Cost: $40 course and registration, at Youth Center, Bldg. 5210. Super Sitters courses are held every so often when at least six students are on the list. The classes are taught in two, four hour segments, location and times will vary on availability. The course is open for youth and teens ages 11-18. Once registered, student will be notified of the next available course.
Youth of the Year: Do you have what it takes to represent Edwards AFB at the local, district, state, regional and potentially national level? If so you can earn thousands and thousands of scholarship dollars. Check with your local teen center.

Boys & Girls Club Power Hour/Project Learn: Monday-Thursday, 2:45-4 p.m. Power Hour: making minutes count helps club members (ages 6-12) become successful in school by providing homework help/ tutoring while encouraging members to become self-directed learners. Torch Club: Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Torch Room. Torch clubs are charter, small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 9-12. It is a powerful vehicle through which club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. See Mr. Andrew for details.

Did you know that the most dangerous time for youth, especially teens, are between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m.? The Youth and Teen Centers offer social opportunities and structured programming from affiliated agencies such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the 4-H Club.
