Through our character – an opportunity to reflect on important issues in our community
The Templeton Foundation’s winner last year was Jean Vanier, awarded for his exceptional contribution to affirming life’s spiritual dimension. He served in the British Royal Navy during World War II and was impacted by those with developmental disabilities. He started a worldwide federation of communities that came to be called L’Arche. Their Statement of Identity and Mission states: “We are people, with and without developmental disabilities, sharing life in communities … Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of our journey together. We celebrate the unique value of every person and recognize our need of one another.” Value in today’s world is usually determined by profit. Maybe we need to rethink the concept of value.
Through our prayers — an opportunity to pray for the needs of our community
Ask God help you recognize and celebrate the unique value of each person.
