Through our character – an opportunity to reflect on important issues in our community
Last week it was mentioned that the Templeton Foundation’s winner last year was Jean Vanier, awarded for his exceptional contribution to affirming life’s spiritual dimension. He served in the British Royal Navy during World War II and was impacted by those with developmental disabilities. He started a worldwide federation of communities that came to be called L’Arche. Vanier tells us, “people with intellectual disabilities are not able to assume important roles of power and of efficacy … [their identity and value comes from being] people of the heart. When they meet others they do not have a hidden agenda for power or for success.” So do you have an agenda when you interact with people?
Through our prayers — an opportunity to pray for the needs of our community
Pray that God would move you to be people of the heart, without an agenda.
