U.S. Congressman Steve Knight stopped by the Airman and Family Readiness Center Nov. 12 to express his thanks to family members of deployed service members from Edwards AFB. Knight was invited to come by the monthly Hearts Apart event at the A&FRC. Hearts Apart is a program designed to offer support to the spouses and family members of deployed personnel. Each month, a themed event or outing provides families the opportunity to share a meal and socialize while the children play. The program is not just about having a good time, but about making connections and building a support network for spouses and children of Airmen, Marines and Sailors down range. The A&FRC also has access to a wide range of resources to address needs as they arise. This might include anything from a short-term financial crisis or housing issue, to addressing stress factors in the home.
For additional information about Hearts Apart or to learn how to donate to the Friends of the A&FRC, email damian.spaits@us.af.mil or call the A&FRC at 661-277-0723.
