Chapel seminar
Daryl Knudeson will be teaching a women’s breakfast seminar about God’s design for women entitled, “For This Reason.” Come and take a journey with her back to the Garden of Eden to gain a perspective on the challenges many of us face in marriage and how through understanding God’s original design we can find the unity and intimacy every woman longs for. Daryl is a licensed minister, published author, Bible study teacher and conference speaker. Daryl and Jason have been married for 25 years. Jason serves Edwards AFB as the deputy wing chaplain. Disaster Preparedness
Come out to the Base Exchange April 20, 27, and May 5 for Air Force Emergency Management’s Spring 2016 America’s PrepareAthon events at Edwards. Edwards’ Office of Emergency Management will be at the Exchange’s main lobby playing “Spin the Wheel, Answer a Question, Win a Prize!” The event will help you learn about preparing for emergencies while having fun and winning prizes. Operation Talent Search
In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, co-hosts Family Advocacy and the Teen Center invite you to “Operation Talent Search.” They are seeking all types of acts — musical, skits, dance routines and comedy, in categories such as individual children and adults, family, husband/wife teams and group. Auditions for the event are 3-6 p.m., April 20 at the Oasis Community Center. Bring a CD (or backing track) of any music you may require for the audition. The show is 5 p.m., April 27 at the Oasis Community Center. Help us make this year’s event the best one ever! Calling all volunteers
The Edwards AFB “Run with History” Half Marathon, 10K and 5K needs your help. This second annual event is May 14 and volunteers are needed to help make this another successful experience for all involved. Volunteers will help with registration, passing out water and encouraging the runners. Volunteers will be needed to work from 5 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. To signup, email kristen.haidle@us.af.mil. X-ray services availability
Effective March 28, X-ray services at the 412th Medical Group will be temporarily unavailable for approximately eight weeks due to a scheduled equipment upgrade. Patients requiring X-ray imaging will be referred off base. Ultrasound services will remain available during this time. The Medical Group apologizes for the inconvenience and look forward to better serving our beneficiaries after this upgrade. For more information, call 661-277-2052.
Sunday brunch
The monthly Sunday brunch at Club Muroc is 10 a.m.-2 p.m., April 17. The club will be serving an array of breakfast and lunch menu items along with a kids corner with an ice cream bar. Cost is $21 for members, $23 for non-members, $9.50 for children 6-11, and free for children five and under. No reservations required. For more information, call 661-275-2582.
DANTES exams
During April and May, Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) is offering service members a free second shot at passing an exam. DANTES pays for the first exam, so start studying now! You have nothing to lose except free college credit. This does not apply to College Level Exam Program as that is a different exam program. Joshua Tree Dining Facility changes
In order to better serve the late night community, the Joshua Tree Dining Facility will now be open to officers and DOD civilians for midnight meal. Midnight meal hours are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Sunday through Saturday. For more information, call 661-275-2582.
