‘Develop Your Mental Toughness’ is theme for upcoming Wingman Day, Nov. 2

Wingman Day is scheduled for Nov. 2 on Edwards Air Force Base. The day is an opportunity for Airmen to step outside of their day-to-day work environment and focus on team-building exercises. Wingman Day encourages Comprehensive Airmen Fitness, enhancing resiliency skills with group activities to promote physical, mental, social and spiritual fitness.

Edwards AFB Wingman Day offers a pause in the day-to-day mission to reinforce the Wingman Concept and focus on unit wellness. Wingman Day events Nov. 2 will include activities that try to develop resilience while focusing on the Comprehensive Airman Fitness’ Four Pillars of Resilience: Physical, Mental, Social, Spiritual.
The central message of this Wingman Day is “Develop Your Mental Toughness.”
From 8 a.m. to  9 a.m., Ryan Finnegan, co-owner and lead personal defense readiness coach at CFT Self Defense, will hold a one hour self-defense awareness seminar at the base theater designed to increase mental toughness by learning and understanding fear management techniques. Finnegan will cover the basics of self-defense, which can increase someone’s understanding of the human body’s natural defense system; ultimately, increasing your awareness both internal and external.
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Unit Mental Resilience presentations will be observed.
Guest speaker at the base theater from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. will be Julian J. Dominguez, a licensed marriage and family counselor.
Live streaming of the Dominquez’s presentation will be available at various units on base.
