Christianson (left), assistant chief of training, give Patrick Reitz, fire chief, Idyllwild Fire Protection District, a tour of the March FES facility Feb. 19, and highlight one of their newest firefighting weapons, the Rapid Intervention Vehicle. The RIV carries 400 gallons of water, has two tanks of foam and is able to go 70 miles per hour at full speed. Its main purpose is to get to the scene and start putting water on the fire quickly to help create an exit path for people, Christianson said.
