PACIFIC OCEAN–U.S. Marine Corps veteran and actor R. Lee Ermey discusses shipboard operations with USS Makin Island (LHD 8) Information Systems Officer Lt. Chris Brown, from Lancaster, Calif., on the ship’s fantail.  Ermey and his film crew visited Makin Island in order to document the ship’s operations, weapons systems and crew while underway.  Makin Island is conducting training evolutions off the coast of southern California in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
