DAVIS MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. — Davis-Monthan Air Force Base held an Air Force Ball at the Tucson Convention Center, Ariz., Sept. 12. The ball is an annual Air Force tradition to celebrate the heritage and history of the U.S. Air Force.
More than 750 military members attended the ball wearing the Air Force mess dress uniforms and semi-formal attire, while their guests wore gowns and tuxedos.
Lt. Gen. Chris Nowland, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) commander, was the guest speaker; and spoke of the sacrifices made by not just Airmen, but by their spouses and children. He also touched on the history of Davis-Monthan, and the A-10’s impact on foreign lands.
The emcees for the event, Capt. Katherine Martin, 355th Fighter Wing special victims counsel, and Staff Sgt. Carley Bolitho, 12th AF cyber systems administrator, provided entertainment through skits and musical numbers that portrayed the history of Davis-Monthan AFB.
