The Volunteer Program at the 355th Medical Group began in 2003, with one volunteer. We currently have over 35 active volunteers who assist throughout the facility. They are specifically trained in the areas they work in including, patient safety practices and assisting with medical emergencies, if needed.
We are always in need for more volunteers for our Davis-Monthan Exchange pharmacy and clinic pharmacy. It is imperative we give our Airmen and their families the best patient care out there. Our volunteers are a huge part in our success in achieving this. Our typical volunteer comes in one day a week for either a morning or afternoon shift of four hours. Our volunteers have provided 8,578 hours, saving the Air Force more than $100,970 in hourly wages in 2015.
Our current volunteers are dedicated to our patients and the men and women who serve at D-M AFB. They serve our local community with no financial gain. They are priceless and selfless individuals who by nature are good people.
We thank all our volunteers for the selfless services and kindness they give every day.
Since the Volunteer Program began we have had a total of 305 volunteers who have supported our mission to our patients and their families. Many have been with us since the beginning. If you’re interested in using your skills and sharing your experiences, interests and knowledge, become part of the 355th Medical Team.
If you are interested in becoming part of our team please contact Mrs. Julia Honeycutt, 355th Medical Group volunteer coordinator, at 520-228-2616 to start the process. Volunteers are require to have base access, be in good physical and mental health, able to communicate well in English, provide updated immunizations record, attend a 45 minute education and training review and a 15 minute Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act briefing.
