Hello everyone, and welcome to the July 2021 edition of Davis-Monthan AFB Desert Lightning News! “The Boneyard” at Davis-Monthan welcomed yet another venerable aircraft to its confines recently, as the final retired OC-135B Open Skies aircraft from the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base arrived to be placed in storage. The AMARG team will tend to the aircraft in painstaking detail: flushing systems, cleaning and sealing thoroughly, and coating it in preservation compounds — all to ensure that the aircraft’s capabilities remain intact, should it ever be recalled to service. We have an inside look at the storage and preservation process, along with much more news for you, in this month’s issue of Desert Lightning News!
