Hello, fans and friends, and welcome to the December 2020 edition of Davis-Monthan AFB Desert Lightning News! Proving that the day-to-day mission of D-M Air Force Base has far-reaching impact, we have a story on our cover this month highlighting the lifesaving work of the 563rd Rescue Group. Airmen of the 563rd were called upon in November to rescue four teenage hikers, who were stranded on a mountain in Utah’s Dixie National Forest. This mission is one of several real-world rescues performed over the last year by the 563rd RQG, and serves as a great example of how these Airmen are always ready to execute their mission, whenever they are called upon.
