FORT IRWIN, Calif. – Senior Policy Advisor to Congresswomen Nancy Pelosi, Ms. Patricia Ross, met with senior leadership, talked with Army spouses and toured post facility’s here, Friday, June 16.
After a short installation brief by senior leadership, Ross hit the streets of Fort Irwin and visited with spouses during a luncheon. The working lunch gave her insight on both local issues and Army-wide concerns. During the discussion, the current backlog in child care background checks was a popular topic of discussion.
“It gets very tough being a working spouse with children in the Army,” said Senior Army Spouse, Veronica Martin “It takes so long for people to get their background checks and because of that, there is a shortage in child care providers here.”
After the luncheon, Ross toured various homes within community housing and family support centers.
Ross has played an integral role with major initiatives in the past five years, ranging from low-income child care assistance to the VA reform bill in 2014.
