FORT IRWIN, Calif. — The National Training Center colors were exchanged during a time-honored tradition at the Sandy Basin Community Center, where Soldiers, families and civilians observed a relinquishment of responsibility between incoming Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew R. Lowe and outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. Robin M. Bolmer, Jan. 5.

After the presentation of the national colors and relinquishment ceremony, Brig. Gen. Jeffery Broadwater, commanding general of NTC and Fort Irwin, praised Bolmer’s success during his time as post Command Sergeant Major.

“Although his tenure was short, he had a great effect on the development of Soldiers stationed here at the NTC, as well as the Soldiers in each of the rotational training units that trained here,” said Broadwater. “Your experience and insight has been invaluable to us all.”

Despite Bolmer relinquishing responsibility as the NTC Command Sergeant Major, he will continue to serve the installation as the G3 Sergeant Major.

Broadwater also stressed the importance of having a solid team, saying that the NTC will only get stronger with the welcoming of Lowe and his reputation as a “humble, selfless service leader focused on team building that is second to none, bringing with him good ideas and enthusiasm,” he said.

Lowe is not new to the NTC’s high tempo training environment as he once served as an Observer Controller here with Operations Group in 2002. His latest assignment was with the 4th Cavalry Multi-Functional Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Ky., where he served as the Brigade’s Command Sergeant Major.

Concluding the ceremony, Broadwater said the driving force behind the NTC is the dedicated Soldiers, families and civilians, who continually devote themselves to the important mission at the NTC.

“There is no doubt that the strength of our service, the strength of Fort Irwin and the strength of the National Training Center is in our dedicated people who create a strong team – Lead, Train, Win.”
