FORT IRWIN, Calif. —The Fort Irwin Legal Assistance Office hosted a workshop on Nov. 21, to educate the Fort Irwin community on California landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities. This event was live streamed on Facebook.com/FtIrwin and gained the traction of about 900 views.
The legal office covered information, including new rent control laws for resident residing in California, the understanding of security deposits, deposit returns, reasonable accommodations and the importance of lease reviews.
The Fort Irwin Housing Offices emphasized their efforts with in-processing, housing and contract reviews, and assistance with lease reviews. Also highlighted as a notable “big win” for the Fort Irwin community, was the boundary extension for BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing). Fort Irwin BAH boundaries now extend past Barstow, Calif. into the surrounding areas of Helendale, Apple Valley, and Victorville. This means rent for NTC/Fort Irwin housing will now be based on several cities, instead of just Barstow.
This valuable information shared applies to tenants of Fort Irwin and Soldiers living off-post.
