The Samuel Adams Brew House Bar was lit by many laughs on Jan. 17. RJ Ryan, Seth Lawrence, Will C and their manager, Rick Gene make up the “Veterans of Comedy, No Laugh Left Behind” team. Ryan, Lawrence and Will C performed during the live show at Samuel Adams Brewhouse in Fort Irwin.
The show was sold out and among those in attendance, were the Commanding General, Brig. Gen. David Lesperance, and the Garrison Commander, Col. Janette Martin. The comedian’s lead sponsor, the Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR), which made their acts possible, was also there.
Ryan, a veteran who served four years in the Navy and six in the Army, and Lawrence, are recent U.S. contest finalists.
Will C served four years in the Navy and six in the Army as a helicopter medic and is the founder of the Veterans of Comedy. He is also seen on such shows as the Office, Modern Family, and Monk.
The comedians came in the spirit to leave a light-hearted impact on Soldiers and their families residing in the dessert environment.
Will C related the adrenaline he experienced just before hitting the stage, to his own and the soldiers’ feelings just before going to war saying, “If there ever was a place that needs a laugh, it’s this place.”
Following the performance, spectators gathered around a table behind the bar area for autographs and to purchase t-shirts with the comedian’s logo.
