FORT IRWIN, Calif. — About 50 people came out for the monthly Community Service Council (CSC) meeting at the Sandy Basin Community Center on Jan. 14.
All of the Garrison directors, as well as MEDDAC/DENTAC presented information to the community, as well as resources that are available to soldiers. Each director was also available for questions, following their presentations and there were questions about the community dog park, RV Park, housing renovations and hospital limited days.
The Garrison Commander, Col. Jeanette Martin, said all equipment has been received for the new dog park and they’re working on finding a contractor for proper installation. Martin, along with the NTC Commanding General, Brig. Gen. David Lesperance, said their teams will work together to give a detailed update on the RV Park in the near future, following a July 20, 2019 fire.
Adam Hay, the Villages Housing director, addressed concerns about relocation of families during certain housing renovations, saying the Villages has temporary housing available for families during kitchen renovations in Bitter Springs, which begin this month. All corded blinds will also be replaced and residents will be contacted to schedule the replacement.
These meetings were formerly known as the Community Town Halls. They’ve been conducted virtually-only in the past and the Garrison Commander began doing these monthly and in-person, after getting feedback from the community on the Garrison email account, irwinbestinthewest@gmail.com.
All of the slides and information from the Jan. 14 Community Service Council are on the main NTC website at home.army.mil/irwin.
