The Fort Irwin community had a fabulous time during Salsa Night at the Sandy Basin Community Center on Feb. 28. Izis le Enfermera de la Salsa performed original songs and amazing cover songs. Everyone from the guests to the bartenders were dancing and Luis Rosario, retired Soldier and husband of Izis, offered salsa lessons to kick off the night. He did a fantastic job breaking down the steps and even touching on other Latin dances, before his wife took the stage, letting attendees put their practice to work.
Izis sang original music, covers and even put a Latin spin on other dance genres, all while dancing and hyping up the group with positivity and love. Izis is also an Army captain and nurse on post.
The Villages plans to continue these types of shows throughout the year in different forms, so be on the look out for them.
